The makers of the big screen adaptation of India’s cricket World Cup win in 1983 has received an early Christmas gift. ‘83’ the film, starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Pankaj Tripathi and others has been declared tax free in the Union Territory of Delhi. The film is directed by Kabir Khan who is also the co-producer along with Deepika Padukone, Reliance Entertainment and Sajid Nadiadwala.. ‘83’ talks about India’s ICC Cricket World Cup win in the year 1983. It was a time when nobody imagined that India could win against the West Indies. The odds were stacked against Kapil Dev-led Indian cricket team. The film narrates the entire story of how the Indians proved to be the dark horse and lifted the coveted trophy in its very first World Cup win. While the film releases to the public on December 24, ‘83’ is already declared a winner by critics and industry folks who have been attending advance screenings all week.
