Arvind Swami made his presence felt with the 1992 hit film ‘Roja’, which starred Madhu opposite him. The film was originally in Tamil but was dubbed in Hindi and went on to become a hit. ‘Bombay’ released in 1995 and the actor again gave a super hit. The actor kept working in the South cinema but could not make his mark in Bollywood. A couple of Hindi assignments later, South sensation Arvind Swami almost vanished from the film radar. But now the hero is back and how! Arvind has bagged the Kangana Ranaut-starrer Thalaivi in which he will play MG Ramachandran, aka MGR. Kangana plays J Jayalalithaa in the film. Played by Swami, late MGR was an actor, who later turned politician and became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Jayalalithaa traded on his footsteps.
