Nearly half a billion viewers (45 crores) tuned in to watch a 3-day virtual music concert featuring several music legends such as Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Kumar Sanu and others, as international superstar Akshay Kumar hosted the massive event to raise funds to fight the coronavirus.
Organised to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s PM CARES FUND, the Sangeet Setu virtual concert took place between 10th – 12th April and brought together some of India’s biggest music stars to put on a show for the country as it continues to go through a lockdown. So far, the country has recorded more than 10,800 cases of the virus which has caused 353 deaths.
Among the star-studded list of performers were veteran singer Sudesh Bhosale, Asha Bhosle, Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Suresh Wadkar, Sonu Nigam and Pankaj Udhas who put on a spectacular show as India stood united during this difficult time.
Akshay Kumar was the perfect host for the concert, encouraging viewers to donate to the PM CARES FUND and to provide some much-needed support to those deeply affected by the virus outbreak.
He kept the audience entertained throughout with his excellent hosting skills while he invited performers to sing some of their most iconic songs.
On the final day of the concert Akshay Kumar requested Pankaj Udhas to sing the romantic song Chandni Jaisa Rang Hai Tera and to dedicate it to Akshay Kumar’s wife Twinkle Khanna in what was a heart-warming moment enjoyed by all.
