Amidst all its valor and glory, the trailer of Sidharth Malhotra starrer Shershaah was launched on the momentous occasion of Kargil Vijay Divas and since then, has reached a staggering number of 37M views on YouTube. With the audience’s anticipation for the movie skyrocketing, they are eager to see the journey of a National Hero play out on screen. With Sidharth Malhotra embodying the gallantry of the Braveheart Captain Vikram Batra himself, Kiara Advani plays a pivotal role in the film jointly produced by Dharma Productions and Kaash Entertainment and is helmed by the visionary Vishnu Varadhan. The fans are beyond excited to see Sidharth Malhotra’s brand-new avatar, as the dapper soldier whose courage and bravery brought glory to India during the Kargil War 1999.
Speaking at the trailer launch, Captain Vikram Batra’s twin brother, Vishal Batra mentioned, “I’ve been on this journey along with them (filmmakers), for a long time. While we were pondering over the decision of who to cast for the role of Vikram way back around 2016, I met Sidharth Malhotra the first time in Bombay and I knew it was him. And this journey of the past 4-5 years and the effort put in by Dharma Productions, Shabbir, Vishnu Varadhan and crew has been phenomenal. I hope that the bravery that Vikram showed in the war, will inspire the youth of today to join the forces.”
The exclusive launch of the trailer at Kargil last Sunday was attended by the cast and crew including- actors Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, Director Vishnu Varadhan, Producers Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Shabbir Boxwala, along with Vijay Subramaniam, Director and Head, Content, Amazon Prime Video. The occasion was also graced by the presence of General Officer Commanding-In Chief, Northern Command and Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat General Y K Joshi, who had gathered to commemorate the valiant martyrs of the Kargil war and celebrate their legacy.
Inspired by a true story, Shershaah celebrates the bravery and gallant spirit of Captain Vikram Batra (PVC) and honors his invaluable sacrifice in the Kargil War. It is the story of a soldier who became not only an inspiration but a legend for generations to come.
Shershaah will release as a lead up to the Independence Day weekend, premiering exclusively on Amazon Prime Video staring August 12 across 240 countries and territories.
