The Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Jersey’ opened to a low response at the box office despite the fact that theatres have now opened up fully and with 100 percent capacity. It was expected that fans of Bollywood cinema would throng to cinema halls, but no such feat was achieved with the much anticipated ‘Jersey’. While the first day box office collection of this South remake was Rs 3.75 crore in India, by the end of four days, Jersey could manage only about Rs 16.45 crore at the ticket windows. While this film could may hit a century to enter the coveted Rs 100-crore club, Shahid’s previous film ‘Kabir Singh’ which was also a Southern remake, fared much better. ‘Kabir Singh’ collected nearly Rs 90 crore in the same time. On a plus note, ‘Jersey’ is getting a positive response from cinegoers.
