After ‘Pathaan’ creating history at the box office and breaking many records, the Hindi film industry seems to in a slump in terms of box office collection yet again. Releasing on February 17th 2023, the Kartik Aaryan-starrer ‘Shehzada’ could manage only about Rs 40 crore gross so far at the universal ticket windows. His last, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, minted over Rs 266 crore gross worldwide. Hence expectations were running high this time around. The latter was much appreciated and ran for about 50 days in theatres, while ‘Shehzada’ seems to be out from most cinema halls already. Hopes were riding high even with the Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi-starrer ‘Selfie’, which released on February 24th. Sadly, that too did not click with the audience and the film managed a meagre Rs 17 crore gross opening weekend. With ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’ in theatres now, hopes are riding high on this Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor starrer to make it a truly colorful holi at the box office.
