National award winning internationally acclaimed actor Anupam Kher and his acting school ‘Actor Prepares’ sponsored top prizes at this year’s KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival held recently.
Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares is India’s finest school for those who wish to pursue careers as actors and writers in the entertainment industry. It is the only institute in the country that is run by an actor who is still professionally active.
Actor Prepares is part of Kashish International Queer Film festival for the 5th year in a row and is extremely proud to be associated with the festival. This year, Actor Prepares sponsored three major category awards namely: Best Indian Narrative Short, Best Performance in a Lead Role and Best Narrative Feature Film.
The prolific actor has announced cash prizes including Rs 30,000 to the Best Narrative Feature Film – Matter, won by Pablo D’Alo Dabba, Rs 20,000 to the Best Indian Short Film – Ajay, won by Vikrant Dhote and Rs 20,000 to the Best Actor In a leading Role award was won by Chetan Kanwar for Pashi. There was also a Special Jury mention award for Lead Role that was given to Gu Xiang for the film, Sunken Plum.
The awards were announced at the closing ceremony of the ninth edition of KASHISH 2018 on May 27, 2018 at Liberty Carnival Cinemas. The cash awards were instituted by Anupam Kher in 2013.
Besides sponsoring the awards, Actor Prepares also organised an acting workshop on May 25th, 2018 at Liberty Carnival Cinemas including practicals on the techniques that actors use, understanding and channeling emotions, use of voice and speech and body language meticulously designed by the Chairman and mentor, Anupam Kher.
