Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the makers of ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ heaved a sigh of relief when the Supreme Court of India granted a verdict in their favor. A case was filed against the title of the film and the petitioner had asked for a stay on the release of ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. Babuji Rawji Shah, who claimed to be the adopted son of Gangubai, had petitioned this in court. While the Bombay High Court refused to grant him any relief, he turned to the apex court just before the film is set to hit theaters. ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ opens on Friday, February 25th so the matter was urgently heard and the case was dismissed. Shah also couldn’t prove to the court if he was indeed the adopted son. The makers on the other hand, argued that the film is based on the book ‘The Mafia Queens of Bombay’ released in 2011.
