Karan Johar-produced period drama, ‘Kalank’, finally has a release date! The film will hit the screens on April 11, with the makers planning a holiday-weekend strategy. “The idea is to capitalize on Mahavir Jayanti as well as Good Friday, besides Saturday and Sunday. It’s an extended weekend with two partial holidays. And going by past records, it’s a good time for a big film to release,” reveals a source. With this release date, producers Dharma Productions, Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star Studios have ensured a nine-day unencumbered run, until April 26, when Avengers: End Game, the finale of the superhero franchise, releases. “It’s a well-thought out business decision to advance the opening,” adds the source. ‘Kalank’s’ cast includes Varun Dhawan as Zafar, Alia Bhatt as Roop, Sanjay Dutt as Balraj, Madhuri Dixit as Bahaar, Aditya Roy Kapur as Dev and Sonakshi Sinha as Satya. The posters of all the characters were released recently and have left the audiences intrigued.
