The flag bearer of Indian couture globally, Sabyasachi will open Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015, a season that marks 15 glorious years of India’s premiere fashion trade platform.
Lakmé Fashion Week’s find and favorite, Sabyasachi made his debut in 2002 with a collection that earned him instant spotlight. He pioneered the use of Indian textiles and craft tradition, re-inventing Indian couture globally. An esteemed member of the Advisory Board at Lakmé Fashion Week and a true prodigy, Sabyasachi Mukherjee indisputably is the perfect designer to kick start the 15 year celebrations. The evening will see some of the most popular faces and successful names take to the ramp to commemorate this occasion.
Lakmé fashion Week has been a mentor and launch pad to many such design talents who have carved their mark internationally. Since 2000, the platform has been the forerunner in redefining fashion and integrating India onto the global fashion map.
Sabyasachi shares, “Lakmé Fashion Week holds a special place in my journey as a designer other than being my debut platform. Our success stories resonate and have been parallel. It gives me great pleasure to open the season that commemorates 15 years of LFW in India and be a part of this milestone.”
“Lakmé Fashion Week celebrates its 15th anniversary this season. A landmark depicting achievements, memories and magnification of Indian fashion which is currently at par with the global counterparts. We chose Sabyasachi, a name that resonates with our platform’s journey and success, spanning over 15 years. We hope to curate an evening that will be remembered for a very long time. One for the books if I may say!”, adds Saket Dhanker Head-Fashion, IMG Reliance.
This offsite show on 17th March is the curtain raiser for Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015. Sabyasachi and Lakmé Fashion Week have shared celebrated association and the designer last showcased a magnificent royal range, inspired by the limited edition Lakmé Absolute Royal collection in 2013 for the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive season
