Lata Mangeshkar passed away on February 7th at the age of 92. The world famous singer was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital under the treatment of Dr Pratit Samdani. She was suffering from Covid-19 and pneumonia apart from age-related ailments. Lata Didi, as she is fondly called, was laid to rest at the Shivaji Park Ground in Mumbai with full state honours. Celebrities like Amitabh and Shweta Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Gulzar, Aamir Khan, Vidya Balan and Shraddha Kapoor among others paid their last respects to the Bharat Ratna awardee. While some rushed to her place in South Mumbai, many others made it to the cremation ground. Mangeshkar has to her credit tens of thousands of songs including such iconic numbers ‘Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon’, ‘Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai’ and ‘Lag Ja Gale’. The world has truly lost an iconic voice but her legacy will live on for generations to come through her music.
