Mangeshkar Trust, Lata Mangeshkar to honor Indian army

Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar will donate rupees one crore to the Indian army along with Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan charitable Trust, that will donate rupees five lakhs to honour the martyrs who laid down their life in line of duty in the terrorist attack at Pulwama in Jammu & Kashmir that claimed the life of over 40 CRPF soldiers.

Master Deenanath Mangeshkar, fondly remembered as one of the most popular theatre artists in Marathi Cinema, is also the father of legendary playback singer Lata Mangeshkar, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Usha Mangeshkar and Meena Mangeshkar-Khadikar. Also, apart from being a learned classical musician, he was also a successful film producer. The Mangeshkar family has set up a trust, hospital and a research center in his fond memory.

Hridaynath Mangeshkar, the youngest of the Mangeshkar siblings, is pleased to announce that the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan Trust, in association with his eldest sister Lata Mangeshkar, humbly honor the contribution of the Indian army.

“We salute the sacrifice of those who stand at the borders for our welfare. This is our humble contribution,” says Hridaynath Mangeshkar. The cheque will be given at the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan Awards ceremony at the Shanmukhananda Hall, Mumbai on April 24.
