On July 3rd 2024, Ram Gopal Varma marked the 26th anniversary of his groundbreaking film ‘Satya’ with a heartfelt tribute on X (formally Twitter). The director remembered the cast and crew with a “big shout out”. ‘Satya’, a pioneering work in the crime and thriller genre, continues to resonate as a classic in Indian cinema. Actor Manoj Bajpayee, renowned for his unforgettable portrayal of Bhiku Mhatre also joined in commemorating the milestone. Taking to Instagram, Bajpayee shared cherished behind-the-scenes moments with co-stars Shefali Shah, Urmila Matondkar, JD Chakravarthy, Saurabh Shukla, Anurag Kashyap and others, encapsulating the essence of their journey. His post was captioned with a nod to the film’s iconic dialogue, “‘Mumbai ka king kaun?’ #26YearsOfSatya”. The storyline revolves around Satya (JD Chakravarthy), a naive newcomer who’s life takes an unexpected turn when a chance encounter in prison thrusts him into Mumbai’s unforgiving underworld. Amidst the chaos, he forms a crucial bond with Bhiku Mhatre (Manoj Bajpayee), a charismatic yet dangerous gangster who becomes both mentor and adversary in Satya’s journey through the criminal labyrinth of the city.
