We recently reported how a International Film Festival of India (IFFI) jury member, Nadav Lapid, labelled ‘The Kashmir Files’ as a “vulgar” and “propaganda” movie. The commercially successful film stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi and is directed by Vivek Agnihotri. Apart from the cast and crew, many came down heavily on Lapid’s statement. The controversy snowballed and finally the Israeli screenwriter and film director issued clarification while talking to a news channel. “I didn’t want to insult anyone. My aim was never to insult the people or their relatives, who have suffered. I totally apologise if that’s the way they interpreted it,” he said. At the same time, Lapid said that he stands by what he said about ‘The Kashmir Files’ at the event and is ready “to repeat it over and over again”.
