High-end clothing and accessories designer, Felix Bendish, of Mumbai, India, made his debut at New York Fashion Week’s
hiTechMODA runway show with a collection of women and men’s pret looks inspired by the ethereal beauty of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights), appropriately titled “Cosmic Blend.”

Comprising quirky, digital print taken from its established embroidery designs to tie-up accessories, head pieces, broaches, and armor vests, the collection of sixteen looks merges futuristic elegance with timeless grace. “This is the year of embracing love, along with the celestial symphony of hope and promise through the natural spectacle of the Northern Lights, where we can blend our inner beauty with the outside world,” said Bendish about his coming out party at NYFW. In the past, the acclaimed designer has dressed Bollywood celebrities such as Sushmita Sen, the first Indian woman to be crowned Miss Universe, and Indian actor Ashmit Patel.

The theme of Bendish’s latest collection is an homage to balance and harmony between human beings and the universe. The Northern Lights are witnessed in different parts of the world in different patterns of colors viewed by completely different groups of people, but somehow each spectacle of this celestial phenomenon seems balanced and harmonious with the shape it is occupying in the night skies. Similarly, Bendish’s line incorporates the yin and yang philosophy to highlight the duality and harmony we share with nature through vivid colors blending into blacks-and-whites and reverting to psychedelic colors again. The designer’s vision is to create his version of the Northern Lights on stage for the audience by incorporating dramatic headpieces, spiked accessories, and flowing silhouettes, leaving them in complete awe and wonderment of the spectacle they have just witnessed.
