Saif Ali Khan faced a terrifying ordeal last month when an intruder stabbed him six times in the back during a botched robbery at his home. The actor underwent critical surgeries, including the extraction of a three-inch knife blade perilously close to his spine. Support poured in from well-wishers, though some questioned the incident’s authenticity. Recently, Saif recounted the harrowing experience of confronting the armed assailant alone until his domestic staff intervened. He confessed that a more severe injury to his neck or spine could have left him “paralysed”.
In an interview with The Times of India, Saif revealed why his elder son, Taimur accompanied him to the hospital instead of actress-wife Kareena Kapoor Khan. He said, “He (Taimur) was absolutely composed. He was fine. He said, ‘I’m coming with you.’ I was getting a lot of comfort just from looking at him at that time. And I didn’t want to go alone. My wife sent him knowing what he would do for me. Maybe it wasn’t… at the moment, it was the right thing to do. I felt good about it. And I also thought, if God forbid something happens, I’d like for him to be there. And he wanted to be there also.” While Saif and Taimur headed to the hospital, Kareena took Jeh to her sister Karisma Kapoor’s home.
