Starring Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead roles, Fitoor is an adaptation of Charles Dicken‘s Great Expectations. Veteran actress Rekha was supposed to play the role of Mrs. Havisham and even completed shooting all of her scenes. However, Rekha decided to step out of the project, as she was apparently unhappy with her look onscreen.
In a scramble to find a replacement for the integral character, Tabu has been roped into the project. Although director Abhishek Kapoor hasn’t opened up about why exactly Rekha left, he said, “Tabu has given some incredible performances in Maqbool, The Namesake and Haider to name a few. She is an actress who has always accepted challenges and I am honoured to have her in my film.”
Katrina and Aditya will have to re-shoot scenes with Tabu, so the release date is rumored to be delayed now. Your thoughts on Tabu replacing Rekha?
