Today, Disney+Hotstar, Hotstar (USA) announced it will premiere seven Hindi films on it’s platform over the next several months. However, only five of the seven films were represented at the virtual press conference / social media event. ‘Lootcase’ and ‘Khuda Haafiz’ were left out of the event and promotions. Vidyut Jammwal who stars in ‘Khuda Haafiz’ was unhappy with the lack of representation given to his film. He tweeted ‘A BIG announcement for sure!! 7 Films scheduled for release but only 5 are deemed worthy of representation. 2 films receive no invitation or intimation. It’s a long road ahead. THE CYCLE CONTINUES’.
Vidyut’s outrage comes at a time when everyone is discussing nepotism, preferential treatment of star kids and insiders after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14th. The action star’s followers and fans expressed their disappointment over the issue, calling it ‘Pathetic’. Disney+Hotstar has not yet responded as to why the two films were left out.
